Athena Organic Farms and Eco-Retreat is a haven tucked away in Southern Okanagan, B.C. Their core value is to honour sustainability by producing local and organic produce. 70% of our food in Western Canada is imported from California, meaning that it travels on average 1,500 miles before reaching our grocery shelves. It’s important to our community to eat locally in order to reduce our carbon footprint.
What sets Athena Organic Farms apart isn’t just their product. The farm is part of the SeedUps Canada campaign which provides equity crowdfunding. This means that investors, businesses, and entrepreneurs can get involved with doing something positive for our community. They don’t just to get to visit the farm, but they get to own a piece of it and publicly back a company that’s both profitable and sustainable.
The farms also offer a retreat centre that’s perfect for company retreats or a getaway with friends and family. Their weekend packages give space for people to rest, connect with nature, and have a deeper understanding with food.
This post was sponsored by Athena Organic Farms and Eco-Retreat, but all opinions are our own. We will be visiting the farms next year, so look forward to a post about it!
