I was invited by Sonal from Socialettes to attend Xpocity which is Vancouver’s first Women’s Shopping Social. It was an incredible experience and I met many great people in the creative industry along the way.
As I walked into the room after receiving my goodie bag, I was surrounded by balloons and people. I arrived a little late so I guess I missed a lot of food. However, the vendors handed out bite-size snacks and boy, were they delicious! Aside from that, the lighting, the venues and the people working there were all awesome and friendly!
One of the first vendors I saw when walked in was Megan Williams. Megan is the author of “Our Interrupted Fairy Tale.” Her first novel is a true story about her journey to finding love. She met Chad at the age of 16, when he was 26. Days after they met, Chad received the news that he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, an incurable cancer of the blood. Their love story is inspiring, and after listening to a brief explanation, I just couldn’t help but purchase it. She was so sweet and friendly that I also couldn’t help but to take a picture with her!
Finally, I walked through the doors where all the magic happened. The first table I saw was set up by The Vancouver Tea Party Company, which is an event planning and vintage china rentals company. Sally, who I have emailed before recognized me immediately! We did a little bit of talking and in the end, I felt like we have known each other for a very long time. Her table had candy, honey sticks and even macarons all of which made me feel like I was at an actual tea party event!
I came across Designer Love Planner, and I just fell in love with the gold, black and white stripes on the planner. Marissa, who is a graphic designer spent two years designing this wonderful planner. There are prints included with every month where you can tear it out and post it in your office or room! It also has weekly check lists, weekly schedules, budgeting and to do list. It’s the perfect size and definitely will fit in your purse!
I came across Rimpy Sahota. As a fashion designer, Rimpy focuses on women’s ready to wear garments, and adds her sense of fashion. Her mint colour top and skirt were my favourite, and I adore the mint colour. Moreover, I really admire the way Rimpy can make a simple outfit look totally fabulous. She showed me that a statement necklace can add personality to a simple outfit.
Afterwards, I met Krystel who has her own skincare and makeup line called Lipani. Lipani products are paraben free which is perfect for people with sensitive skin. They use natural and clean ingredients that won’t irritate your skin. Upon trying the cream, I noticed the texture was smooth, and non-sticky. As the product is made with natural ingredients, I can feel confident about the product.
Along the way, I also met more people like Elizabeth from The Style Saver, Filitsa from Sweetlegs (which I totally had trouble picking a pair of leggings..) and many more!
Xpocity was a great success and I am super proud of Sonal and her team from Socialette for organizing this wonderful event and I hope they will continue to host it in the years to come.
Xoxo,
Holly
